Bhutan crowned a new king today. The reason I care: I have had five postage stamps from Bhutan since I was 11 years old. Rachel Maddow compared him favorably to Elvis Presley. It begs the question:
Did he get the shoes because he is now king?
OR
Did he get to be king because he had the coolest shoes?
IIRC, Rachel's exact quote was, "His kingly footwear is AWESOME!"

Per Mike's question:either way works. Any favorable comparison to Elvis would justify the shows and the crown! Do you suppose commemorative footwear is available to the public?
Maybe the shoes are something one receives for being king (e.g., the Pope's red ones) but anyone with shoes like that is clearly king material. Shoes aside, favorable comparison to Elvis would indicate kingliness. Can he sing?
