AmeriCorps, at last

After about eighteen months of delay, Eli finally landed in Sacramento yesterday to begin a 10-month stint with AmeriCorps. He's doing FEMA-Corps in particular, which is a component of NCCC. He'll train for a few weeks and then his team of 6-7 will be assigned to assist at a disaster site to provide back-up and support to community members and other agencies. He was set to go a year ago, but the glaucoma diagnosis messed everything up. Tuesday was a busy evening as usual, but we managed to pull together a special meal for him. We were also proud that his bag came in well under wight! We're proud, relieved and excited!
